This is my 10th year as a full time photographer, and through the years, I have met, and worked with the most amazing people. Most of them are still my clients and we have become friends. I’ve had “full circle” moments like flying to Missouri to photograph a wedding where the bride had been one of my seniors, and having my first client get taller than I am, at the age of 13. It makes me incredibly happy and humble to be where I am.
From the very beginning I knew I wanted to approach my business in a different way. I wanted to focus on the PEOPLE, the interactions, the relationships. I didn’t want to photograph 100 weddings a year, or have portrait sessions everyday. Because for me, I wanted to have the time to really get to know my clients. To learn their names, to ask about life, to become more than just a photographer.
So how do I feel when you walk away? When you go to a different photographer? Well, I kind of feel like you cheated on me. I pretend not to notice that your profile picture is showing photos done by someone else, I pretend it didn’t hurt (but it did). I pretend to be all cool about it, but it kind of feels like a breakup and makes me sadder than I can explain to you.
To my clients/friends, I LOVE you! I work as hard as I do for YOU. I take classes year-round, I have the latest equipment, I pay for a studio, and I do it ALL FOR YOU. Thank you for supporting me, and for choosing me year after year. For those of you who walked away, I still miss you, come back.
Yours truly,
Poly
