Curious about my travel essentials? Hard to believe, but I’ve been to over 34 countries! I’ve learned to pack light and mostly go anywhere with just a carry-on and a backpack. Right before COVID I was lucky enough to go on a Cruise in January of 2020, then to Brazil in February, and Colorado in March. So by the time the lockdown happened we were kind of ready to lay low for a bit. Then we got pregnant in April, and between being pregnant, having a baby, and dealing with a world pandemic we haven’t done any more traveling.
Now that our daughter is 1, and I’m done breastfeeding, traveling seems a lot more doable! I just came back from a trip with my girlfriends to Cancun and it was so nice to lay by the pool/beach, and recharge. Now we are all packing our bags and leaving for Costa Rica as a family!
For now, I thought I’d share some of my travel essentials!
Bose Earphones:
There are so many reasons I love my Bose. The noise cancelling feature makes long flights much easier to take as I pretty much just binge watch movies. It takes the loud humming noise out of the equation. My ears are small and I used to fight with my earphones to keep them in (sometimes having to hold them in with my hands) so I prefer how these are designed to be bulky and cover your entire ear.
Also, if you ever want to eliminate noise when sleeping, these work great too. I have to say, my friend showed me her iPods with noice cancelling feature and I think a switch is in my new future. Do you have those? Thoughts?
Battery Pack for iPhone:
Although I’ve gotten better about bringing my big girl camera, my phone is usually what I reach for photos during my trips. I’m also always working from my phone, using the maps app, googling information, which makes my phone a very important gadget. Having a battery pack means I can go all day without having to worry about recharging.
Packing Cubes:
I consider myself a packing expert, BUT, the cubes are a secret I’m excited to share. These make so much more fit into my carry-on, and I love that everything stays organized and neatly rolled inside. And if my bags get opened at the airport they don’t usually open the cubes so nothing gets touched! Final tip, if you have enough cubes you can pack an entire outfit per cube! Makes getting ready much easier!
Yoga Pants:
Girls, have you noticed a lot of the yoga/exercise pants have a little inside pocket at the waistband? I think it’s meant to put your gym card? It’s such a genius invention! I use it a lot when traveling. Instead of taking a purse when exploring I’ll just put my ID, credit card a little cash there and I’m done. Makes it easy to walk for miles and miles and not have any weight on my shoulders! I’ll usually also pack an extra for working out. Yoga pants, nikes and oversized sweaters are my travel uniform!
Mac Book Air:
I used to have the Mac Book Pro but a few years ago I got the Air and it’s perfect for traveling. It’s super light and skinny and is the perfect travel computer. I never edit on a laptop because I think it’s too small and not usually calibrated, so my laptop is only used for traveling and sometimes meetings.
Oversized sweater:
I’m usually a size extra small or small, but when it comes to my travel sweaters I like big and chunky! Even as I’m typing this, I’m wearing a big sweater while working from my bed. It just feels comfy. Airports are usually cold and I’m always cold in airplanes, so my chunky sweater also doubles up as a blanket.
Cute tennis:
I know I’ll need tennis shoes for exploring so instead of packing them, I wear them for the flight (along with my yoga pants and oversized sweater). It’s comfortable and will get lots of use during the trip. It’s also nice to travel in them because I’ll have socks to go through security and won’t have to worry about being barefoot.
Now you know some of my travel essentials! What are yours? Share with me!
