For a light and airy family session, I definitely prefer to shoot at Sunset and I love golden hour light. I’m getting close to being convinced that sunrise sessions aren’t a horrible idea either (I’m definitely NOT a morning person). But this session had to be scheduled for 10am, on a very sunny day! So I embraced the shade, and love love love how these turned out!
This blue-eyed gorgeous boy is probably a big reason for the family booking this session. He’s the very first grandson, and was all smiles during our session. If you’re wondering how long children normally last for photos, my experience is 30-45 minutes. After that, it’s a gamble!
The colors they chose for their outfits were white, mint, and blue. What worked really well was also adding a few prints with the solids to break it up a bit. So if you’re planning outfits, this is a great way to add a little “something” to it. It could also come in a form of texture, for example, linen photographs very differently than silk, or lace. Don’t be afraid to mix patterns and textures.
I love these three! I call the the “kids” although I’m not that much older than them. They make me work really hard to get their photos, and to be honest, I kind of love it :-).
Thank you for trusting me again with your family session, Neubauers! ‘Till next time!
