This Nautical themed Hotel Landing wedding will leave you absolutely speechless! Andie and Travis hired my fabulous friends at Pink Peony to pull off a nautical themed wedding vision and I’ve been dying to share these images here on the blog! If you’re looking for some soft blues wedding inspiration, I’m bringing you the best of it today!
Getting Ready at Hotel Landing in Wayzata
Starting with the perfect venue, Hotel Landing had all the right colors so the getting ready images were flawless. Hotel Landing in Wayzata is one of my favorite getting ready spaces if you’re looking for the light and airy feel you see in my work.
I also get asked quite frequently why we need at least one hour for “Getting Ready” images, and here’s an example of why. Andie and her daughter had a letter to read from Travis. Moments like this should never be rushed! On top of that a photographer needs time to get creative with shots like the dress, shoes, invitations suite, bride getting into her dress… The more time you can add so the beginning of the day feels stress free, the better.
The First Look
The bridal portraits are always some of my favorite shots of the entire day! I normally ask for at least 45 minutes with the bride and groom. Since I had already done engagement photos with Andi and Travis, they were able to be easily coached into beautiful poses!
The color palette for this wedding was perfect! Travis loves blue, so wearing a blue suit was pretty much non-negotiable! When you have blue eyes like he does though, blue is definitely the right choice! The pops of colors through the flowers were the perfect touch to this Summer wedding! I told you this nautical themed hotel Landing wedding was going to leave you speechless!
Side note: Cathedral veils get all my votes…
How to Mix Shades of Blue at your Wedding
I know mix and matching can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be! As long as you add items to tie it all together you’ll be successful at it! You can see Travis had the groomsmen wearing different shades of blue suits, but the tie was the same to “tie” it all together! The flower girl was also wearing a lighter blue than the bridesmaids, but it all looked cohesive together. My biggest advice is to have a wedding planner who knows how to put all the pieces together so you don’t have to worry at all! Lindsay and Kim from Pink Peony are masters at planning a wedding, and did a stunning job here!
I also love the pop of color at this wedding! It actually makes the blues stand out even more! The flowers were beautiful! Wedding flowers can get expensive, but let me show you just how much they add to your day, AND your final pictures!
Wedding Ceremony at Hotel Landing
Guests arrived and were greeted with fans, FIJI water, as well as lemonade garnished with mint for an extra “something” on the very hot, Summer day!
The option to have the wedding outside was just a plus for having booked Hotel Landing for the wedding day!
Wedding Reception at Hotel Landing
After cocktail hour, guests walked to the reception room and were greeted by this stunning balloon garland by Girl Friday Creative! This kind of seating chart immediately sets the tone for what’s to come. And what a tone it was! Balloons in different sizes and shades of blue, flowers, Lazer cut letters… Perfection!
It’s always sweet to work a wedding where the clients book Amy, from Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe. Did you know my husband and I chose her for OUR wedding as well? Amy is not only an amazing baker, she has the biggest heart, and has become a friend after years working together. When we got pregnant, I used her macarons to announce we were pregnant. And just recently, she made the cake smash cake for my daughter’s birthday! Needless to say, I’m a huge fan of her work! I mean, just look at these sweets and cake!
Andie and Travis had the most beautiful wedding, and it warms my heart because they deserve ALL THE HAPPINESS in the entire world! They both have the biggest hearts! Cheers to them!!!
