This session was probably one of my favorite sessions to date! I’m definitely a photographer who LOVES being in front of the camera just as much as behind it. I love documenting life, and I think photos are super important! Well… We are pregnant!
I knew I wanted a session to announce we were pregnant, but I also wanted the session to feel like “us.” If you’re thinking macarons are only a “Poly” thing, think again. RJ and I have been to Paris together a few of times, and have enjoyed quite a few trips to get macarons together. He also brings them home every once in a while. It might have started with me, but he loves them too!
I also wanted this session to feel like we were traveling somewhere, because that has been such a huge part of our relationship. This specific spot reminds me of gardens in Paris, and I’m obsessed!
The Macarons…
The macarons were made by my favorite bakery in town, Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe. I asked her to custom make two giant macarons (the parents), and a regular sized one (the baby). There are a few photos where you can see an ultrasound, and another clue is the book, Bringing Up Bebe, which we’ve been reading together.
The Flowers…
I made the floral bouquet myself, and had a lot of fun picking out the flowers. I also had my first try at arranging a charcuterie board. The board itself is a wedding gift we received!
One of my dear friends, Julie Greer, took these beautiful photos for us and I edited them. Julie is lined up to associate shoot a wedding for me on December 18th, and I’m so glad to have such a talented friend!
After our session, we were both STARVING! Now, if you’ve ever had a session with me and read my Style Guide, it specifically says to make sure you eat before. Especially the guy (to prevent irritability….) well, we were both close to dying of hunger because we were super busy that day, and neither of us ate really well.
We ended up stopping at a food truck in NE. The coolest thing happened, they gave us our food for FREE! It was the cutest gesture! If you haven’t yet, check out Animales for the best barbecue in town!
I’m thinking I might switch to my other blog for baby related updates, so stay tuned and I’ll keep you posted! XO
