The title of this post could very well be: “the pursuit of happiness,” but since that title has already been used for a movie, the one above will have to do. We live in a society where everybody is so busy, or think they are, they constantly stop saying yes to the things that will make them happy because there’s no time for such things.
We all dream of a beautiful, exceptional life; but settle for mediocre, if that. Today I would like to challenge you to a series of things to help you, and I, live an exceptional life, because ordinary is already taken. I will be showing up more often to teach you things you can do, or change, for a happier life. These are things that have worked for me. I also want to challenge you to use my ideas as inspiration for what will make YOUR life exceptional and extraordinary.
Let’s talk about the meaning of the word “Ordinary:” “with no special or distinctive features; normal.”
What about the meaning of “exceptional:” “unusually good; outstanding.”
I want to live an usually good and outstanding life. To do this I will have to learn to say yes to things that will make me happy, and no to things that will not. Easy?
The first one is probably the most simple: aroma therapy. If you haven’t invested in some sort of essential oils, please do. I used to think aroma therapy was for hippies until a friend convinced me to buy an essential oils kit. I diffuse lavender every day at my house while I work, and sometimes when I go to sleep as well. It is such a small thing, but I love coming home to a house that smells good and where I feel tranquil.
A friend of mine once said her favorite smell was clean laundry, so she chose to change her bed sheets more frequently so she always slept with that fresh scent. It might be silly, but why not do these little things that will bring a smile to your face.
For this week, find a smell that pleases you, and make an effort to make it part of your day somehow. That’s your challenge! And remember you have the power to live exceptionally!
Yours truly,
Poly
