We can’t help it, we love Minnesota. We love the fresh snow on the ground, ice fishing, hot chocolate by the fire on cold days, ice skating… All things that only make sense on places where it gets cold. Minnesota won me over with it’s beautiful four seasons, and a few years back, I became part of the “we.” Winter no longer scares me, and I’ve seen a trend getting stronger and stronger: Winter Weddings!

Winter weddings are magical and worth the cold. Like a unique snowflake, winter allows Minnesotans to personalize their weddings even more. To introduce bridesmaids colors that don’t work as well in other seasons, furs that remind us of our scandinavian settlers; and the diffused lighting we just can’t get enough. I wasn’t kidding when I said they are magical.

Wedding season in Minnesota normally goes from April to late October, leaving the industry with five months of downtime.  As an incentive for couples considering a winter wedding, many vendors will lower prices slightly to seal the deal. Although this is not a rule, and some vendors will not discount as the amount of work is just the same on a winter wedding, you might see a 5-10% discount for vendors like venue, DJ, and even photographers.

Another reason to have a winter wedding is having your anniversary fall on a season where you will welcome the excuse to get away to somewhere tropical! Imagine spending your January or February anniversaries at the Caribbean every year? “We” love that idea!

Winter weddings are melting our hearts because they are magical. Brides look like Frozen princesses and sparkle like a snowflake, you might get a good deal with your vendors, and you’ll always have a reason to leave town in the cold months! Skol!
